KL®megla’s origins trace back to the 1960’s in Cologne, Germany, when Karl Loggen founded fittings company KL Beschläge. After almost two decades of intensive product design and development, KL Beschläge exploded onto the global scene in 1979 with its introduction of the world’s first glass clamp, and continued to make major technological advancements in state-of-the-art glass fixtures over the next decade.

During this time, KL Beschläge developed a synergistic relationship with Megla Technik, GmbH. Founded in 1968 by renowned Master Glazier Karl-Otto Reinecke, Megla Technik, GmbH was internationally recognized as an industry leader in surface technologies for metal/glass systems. The principals of the two companies saw remarkable similarities in their corporate vision and commitment to innovation, and quickly grasped the enormous potential of merging forces.

Forged under the second-generation leadership of Jörg Loggen and Peter Reinecke, the new firm, KL®megla, GmbH, quickly began to garner worldwide critical acclaim for its cutting edge technology and product quality. Its reputation for revolutionary engineering and design propelled it to stand alone as a leader in the glass fittings industry, a position it has since maintained for more than twenty years.

Today, KL®megla is globally recognized as one of the leading glass hardware brands, used in large commercial glass facades, custom homes and upscale hotels worldwide. Our innovative product line ranges from LED point fittings and conductive hardware for “smart glass” touch systems, to shower hinges featuring step-less adjustability and commercial hinges that replace traditional American patch fittings with floor springs.

This is only a small sampling of the advanced German-engineered product line we bring to America. With our distinguished in-house design team, a history of technological advancements and an unrivaled and time-tested reputation for quality, KL®megla is setting the pace for the twenty-first century.

KL®megla is headquartered in beautiful Eitorf, Germany, located in the greater Cologne/Bonn area. We currently employ over 200 people in our 10 subsidiaries and affiliates located in Europe, Asia, and the United States of America.
